Sheer Light explores the sensory experience of light and place in expanded painting. Embracing the natural environments surrounding Redlands Coast, it is particularly the expansive and ephemeral light by the sea that inspires the exhibition. Helle Cook is a Brisbane-based, Danish/Australian painter, who draws parallels between Nordic and Queensland light and environment. Cook’s art practice expands beyond the studio as she embarks on field trips into nature, often accompanied by her sheer textile paintings.
