The Theatre Redlands production of Reedy River

The story is set in the Reedy River shearing sheds after the national strike. The strike has been broken, the leaders gaoled and the sheds are in disarray as non-union labour is brought in alongside unionised workers. Joe, one of the gaoled strike leaders, returns to Reedy River and his estranged wife Mary. Many of his old colleagues are shearing there, attempting to re-establish a union presence in the sheds. Joe is offered a shed Boss’s job – non-union. The future of the union, old mateships and his marriage hangs in the balance.
