Join Queensland Ballet for a joyful and inclusive creative experience that invites seniors, active adults, and community members aged 18+ of all abilities to take part in a collaborative dance project. No prior dance experience is needed - just a willingness to move, connect, and share.
Through a series of gentle movement workshops and creative sessions, participants will work alongside a Queensland Ballet Teaching Artist in the creation of a new and completely original dance work.
Participants will be guided through an accessible choreographic process including movement warm-ups, stimulus exploration, creative composition, rehearsals, and performance preparation.
The project will culminate in the premiere of the Performance Project dance work at RPAC.
The process begins with a 4-hour introductory session, where participants will be gently introduced to one another and the creative process through get-to-know-you activities, a movement class tailored to all abilities, and the first steps in shaping the dance work. Fortnightly 75-minute rehearsals throughout September and October will continue to build the piece in preparation for the final performance.
Participants should expect to move in both familiar and new ways, share stories, contribute ideas, and be part of a supportive, creative process leading to a meaningful and original performance.
