Step back in time and discover the traditional craft of rag rug making, a practical skill once widely used during times of hardship to repurpose old textiles into useful household items.
In this hands-on heritage workshop facilitated by Susan Hoy, participants will learn the classic Toothbrush Rag Rug method—creating a beautiful and durable rug made entirely from recycled fabric strips. Traditionally, an old toothbrush was shaped into a tool for weaving the rug, and in this workshop, you'll use a custom-made wooden shuttle to follow the same time-honoured technique.
You will create a medium size rag rug suitable for washing in a home washing machine, perfect for everyday use or as a handmade gift.
